Commercial Vehicles parking on cross hatching

Reported via desktop in the Markings category anonymously at 14:06, Wed 15 May 2024

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1097681-Z4T9C3.

Ongoing problems with vehicles parking on either side of entry to Rosebery Close obscuring view of heavy traffic passing on Garth Road at a pace. This either needs traffic enforcement and/or action taken similar to Wydell Close ie double yellow lines over cross hatching. This has become dangerous and I have had two near misses. Could you please investigate? Thank you

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting this. One of our highways officers will inspect the defect. If it meets our repair criteria, we'll get our contractor to repair it.

  • Please let me know outcome of Traffic Enforcers inspection. It is not a repair, it is a request to put double yellow lines (as you have done in Wydell) over the hatching to deter parking on a particularly dangerous junction. Either that, or maybe you could issue a few warning tickets? The home beat informs me that it is not his job but yours

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Hello, no action whatsoever in terms of traffic enforcement. What you have done via Conway is put a "temporary parking suspension notice" covering the cross hatched area to enable street lighting; implying that after a short period of 2 days it is okay to park there. Does anyone from traffic enforcement Merton actually intend to do anything? Meantime could you inform tree section that there is the remains of a sapling on kerbside Garth Road/Rosebery that has been snapped off presumably by a commercial vehicle. Could it be replaced? Thank you

  • No action or feedback whatsoever - problem continues. Does Merton's traffic enforcement team exist in this area?

  • Oh no it hasnt. Its been over a year now, the commercial vehicles are still parking. It is an accident waiting to happen. The road markings are incorrect. It is no good reporting "fixed" when it is obvious that you haven't "fixed" anything! Can you please clarify, apart from pressing a button, exactly what action you have actually take?
