Yellow line markings prevent access for residential parking

Reported via mobile in the Markings category anonymously at 17:40, Wed 7 August 2024

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1134435-T4R4W1.

We have a problem with access to our residential car park due to on street parking directly opposite the entrance to our residential car park. When cars are legally parked to the limit of the yellow markings some residents with are unable to enter or exit without their cars hitting the dropped kerb or running off the brick road of the car park entrance when turning in and out. I have personally damaged the underside of two of my past vehicles due to this obstruction. Residents with normal family size cars require yellow lines to be extended by a couple of metres to safely access without damaging their vehicles. This would facilitate the required turning circle when turning left into enter the car park and turning right to exit.

  • Thankfully today the rubbish was collected but it was not an easy manoeuvre for the skilled driver of the rubbish truck.
