Year long Thames Water leak still unresolved!
Reported via desktop in the Other Footway or Footpath Issue category anonymously at 10:30, Friday 9 August 2024
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1135040-X1V8W7.
For over a year the Thames Water pipe on Cannon Hill Lane has been leaking causing damage to the foot path and grass verges. (See ref: SRQ-1114682-F7B3R8. & ref: SRQ-1126825-L4G5R8.) The pavement has been dug up many times to find the problem then covered over without fixing the leak. The pavement outside house #323 was dug up on 5 August 2024 revealing the leaking Thames Water pipe. The cavity quickly filled with water and is presently leaking as I write. A sub-contractor firm arrived today to fill in the cavity. I was with the engineer who contacted management to report the leak was unresolved, but was instructed to pump out the standing water and fill the cavity. This is unacceptable. Thames Water are not doing their job in maintaining their infrastructure, but rater patching over potentially serious issues hoping the problem just goes away. Please can Merton Council speak directly to the Thames Water official responsible for this piece of work, to get an explanation as to why they are not prepared to resolve this long standing issue. Thank you.
