Sweep required for shards of broken glass left by bin men

Reported in the Litter or Weeds on a Street category anonymously at 12:29, Tuesday 4 February 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1186434-C3Y2X2.

Yet again, the bin men attending William Road have left our street in a mess. Litter, food ware caddies and wheelie bins strewn across the pavement.

This time, they have left dangerous shards of broken glass on the pavement, causing danger and risk to those using the footway (including very young children).

Why is the service so bad? Why do they empty the wheelie bins manually now, rather than loading them onto the back of the lorry to be emptied straight inside (like they used to)? Also, why do they feel the need to throw our food waste bins all over the pavement and leave all our dustbin lids off?!

What a terrible service, not worth the council tax we pay - it’s falling far short of expectations. Please improve! Every week it gets worse.
