Large worsening dip/pothole on north side of road

Reported in the Potholes and Surface Problems category anonymously at 19:15, Monday 24 March 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1199499-N0F6S3.

This deep dip in the road has been here for years. It is on the road directly in front of the dividing wall/border between no.s 2 and 3 Homefield Road which are adjacent houses on the same side of the road. It causes a major jolt when driving over and collects large puddles right next to the pavement when it rains. I note it was reported in December but I think the wrong defect was repaired as it remains still. Photos taken today though I’m not sure the upload has worked.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting this. One of our highways officers will inspect the defect. If it meets our repair criteria, we'll get our contractor to repair it.

  • Photos added. You can see the deep dip on the left side of the road. It has to be driven over and can’t be navigated around because cars are always parked on the right side of the road. You can see the dip also actually involves the pavement as well so the pavement/kerb may need repair to raise it along with the road. Perhaps this is the reason why the defect was not repaired in December despite having been reported as done, and a different defect was repaired instead.
