Dairy Walk walls are falling down and at risk of hurting pedestrians. Council needs to advise the landowners.

Reported in the Other Footway or Footpath Issue category anonymously at 12:46, Wednesday 2 April 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1201941-T5G4C4.

Dear council member,

I am writing to formally request a safety review of Dairy Walk, the pedestrian pathway connecting Church Road and Marryat Road in Wimbledon. As a local resident and parent, I am increasingly concerned about the unstable brick walls lining the pathway, which appear to be leaning, deteriorating, and at risk of collapse. These compromised sections pose a serious hazard to the many residents, schoolchildren, and pedestrians who use the walkway daily.

My particular concern stems from the fact that my young children use the Dairy Walk as their primary route to and from school each day. Given the visible structural issues, I fear that falling debris could cause significant injury to passersby. Many walls have brickwork that appears to be unstable and in urgent need of inspection and repair.

I kindly request that the Council conduct a prompt safety assessment and take the necessary steps to ensure that owners of the properties are made aware of the work that needs to be done to repair the walls to a safe and structurally sound standard.
