Council-owned fence has disintegrated and poses hazard

Reported in the Other Footway or Footpath Issue category anonymously at 11:50, Thursday 24 April 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1208029-G4L9V4.

About a 30m length of the northern fence of the pedestrian passage between Thornton Hill and Darlaston Road is Council-owned. (The other fences along this well-used path are owned by various householders). In 1989 the Council replaced the eastern half of its fence, some 15m in length, with a 6 foot high timber and concrete post fence, which is still in good condition. The remaining 15m length at that time was considered to be in an acceptable state, and so was left in situ. Since that time that section of the fence has now fully deteriorated and needs to be replaced please, ideally to match the existing 1989 section. Elements of the original fencing etc are currently able to fall into the footway, which is not desirable.
