Overgrown Vegetation Obscuring Pavement & Road Sign - Corner of Varley Way/Batsworth Road

Reported via desktop in the Other Footway or Footpath Issue category anonymously at 16:24, Tuesday 3 June 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1219931-R3S7C3.

I am reporting significantly overgrown hedges, plants, and trees at the corner of Varley Way and Batsworth Road.

The vegetation is encroaching heavily onto the pedestrian pavement, forcing pedestrians to walk onto the road to get past. This creates a safety hazard, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with pushchairs or mobility aids.

Additionally, a road sign at this junction (believed to be for Varley Way, as seen in the uploaded photo) is almost completely obscured by the overgrown foliage. This makes it unreadable for drivers and other road users, potentially causing confusion and impacting navigation.

Please see the uploaded photos which clearly shows the extent of the overgrowth and how the road sign is hidden.

This overgrowth requires urgent cutting back to: Ensure safe and clear passage for pedestrians on the pavement. Make the road sign fully visible and legible to all road users.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
