This junction is dangerous and needs 4way traffic lights

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1245208-S8F0X7.

Plough Lane / Summertown / Wimbledon Road / Lidl entrance and exit. This is a very busy junction since flats built. Effectively 4way. Been treacherous for at least 3 years. 18 months since I reported it at a Wandsworth surgery.

Roundabout inadequate. No drivers respect traffic from right. Wimbledon Road drivers ignore the roundabout, driving on regardless. Impossible to turn right from Summertown into Plough Lane. Impossible to turn right from Lidl into Plough Lane. Panda pedestrian crossing makes no sense. It needs to be coordinated with the roundabout in a 4way traffic-lighted solution.

Possibly the solution involves routing Lidl exiters through the current Wickes entrance in Waterside Way. But even so traffic lights still needed at current roundabout.

Wandsworth said they needed to speak to you. Now I'm telling you direct. Really I am fearful of a serious accident. It's just waiting to happen.

  • The traffic has been exceptionally light these school holidays. I hope your Highways Officer will be able to see the junction in normal conditions (and with added skip lorries) when the roads are not as quiet. Perhaps cameras would be of help?
