Trees not being watered
Reported via mobile in the Other Street Tree Problem category anonymously at 08:33, Mon 18 August 2025
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1245443-B2J5F9.
There are numerous trees around the area that are clearly not being watered. Some of them already appear to have died. This seems like a terrible waste. I just met a guy with a tiny luggage trolley and two Jerry cans on the Wandle Way. He is clearly doing his best to keep the trees watered, but he has been given completely inadequate tools! I appreciate that access is limited, but he could at least be given a four wheeled narrow trolley that could accommodate at least twice as much water. We personally have one that we use for the shopping, which can hold 100 kg easily. This seems like incredibly wasteful and inefficient practice. It must also be extremely frustrating for him. Please do better!

Thank you for your and the gentlemen's support for the borough’s greenery. We have a borough-wide watering programme in place for newly planted trees; however, the unusually dry and hot conditions in early summer this year meant that the existing programme was not sufficient.
