All trees on garden avenue are overhanging too much my car, neighbours cars are covered in bird poo.

Reported via mobile in the Damage Caused By a Street Tree category anonymously at 07:17, Tue 19 August 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1245875-B4H7N6.

I've bought a £60k and pay my council tax but our trees have not been trimmed this year at all. About 4 cars have been damaged by bird poo and tree sap coming off the trees. It's absolute joke you can send ticket inspectors causing us grief but can't cut the trees.

  • As per our records, your street has been pollarded in winter 2023/24 and the next pollarding round will be in Winter 2026/27. Pollarding a tree too frequently can adversely affect the trees health so we have to be considered in our approach. In addition, we also have the basal and epicormics programme annually, this is to cut back the basal and epicormics shoots on lower parts of the tree, that have potential to cause obstruction to pedestrians.

The loss of blossom, fruit, sap or leaves as well as bird droppings from trees is part of the natural cycle. It is not considered to be a legal nuisance and cannot be suitably or satisfactorily controlled by pruning.
