Trees need pollarding please on Milton Road

The trees on Milton Road, SW19 8SF, have become quite large and are overhanging onto resident's property. Would it be possible to add Milton Road to the pollarding schedule for next year please? Many thanks!

As per our records, your street has been pollarded in 2024 and the next pollarding round will be in 2027 Pollarding a tree too frequently can adversely affect the trees health so we have to be considered in our approach. In addition, we also have the basal and epicormics programme annually, this is to cut back the basal and epicormics shoots on lower parts of the tree, that have potential to cause obstruction to pedestrians. According to Merton Council’s policy document: Tree Strategy 2023–2029 and common law precedents: Residents have right to prune overhanging branches up to their property boundary, provided the tree is not protected (e.g. by a Tree Preservation Order) or in a conservation area. The pruned material remains council property, but you do not need to return it and please dispose of in legal and appropriate manner. Please note that access to council land is not permitted during such work for safety reasons.
