Flag inciting hatred

Someone has hung a union flag on a council street light. Given the recent plague of union flags/St George's flags being placed around the UK by openly racist groups it's fair to assume this is the purpose of this one too. Needs removing ASAP to protect our community.

Updates

  • Merton Council continues to monitor the situation with flags put in public spaces. We are paying close attention to any community tensions and working to resolve those. We will of course remove anything from public spaces which is offensive or raises safety concerns.
