Union flags have been attached to lampposts for about half the length of Central Road

Reported via mobile in the Other Roads or Carriageway issue category anonymously at 08:32, Thu 11 September 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1253000-N3Q6T2.

In the context of the swell of pernicious rhetoric about and scapegoating of immigrants, the widespread appearance of Union Flags is, unfortunately, divisive territory marking that others people who do not fit a narrow criteria of Britishness. I think that if the Council allows the flags to remain, this will embolden those stoking up racism and xenophobia. Please remove them as soon as possible. Thank you.
