Absence of loading bay for shops under the arcade on Green Lane SM4 6SE

Reported via Android in the Other Roads or Carriageway issue category anonymously at 23:34, Tuesday 23 September 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1256513-Z4V7V5.

On a daily basis at the junction of Middleton road and Green Lane, SM4 6SE, lorry drivers cannot find a decent parking space to deliver goods to local shops and end up blocking the road. This is dangerous for all road users, as well as for pedestrians. Proposed solution in two stages: 1) installation of a designated loading bay by the arcade of shops on Green Lane, for example near n*99 by relocating the public recycling bins further down the island pavement, and using that space to create a loading bay. 2) Double Yellow line at the Junction of Green Lane and Middleton road down to the cafe at 137 Green Lane and into the adjacent service road just past it at 137a Green Lane, to prevent loading and parking. This was reported one year ago, with photos showing how blocked the road gets, and your council services passed the ase and washe their hands off it. Kindly please provide an update of the action you are taking to clear the road from parked lorries and vans in that area and give them a proper space for loadings and deliveries.
