Manhole cover noisy clunking (again)

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1257745-V9P5V4.

This seems to happen every few years the same manhole cover is fixed and then after a while it comes loose and makes a huge noise when cars pass over the top, it is waking us up at night please fix as soon as you can :-)

  • Thank you for reporting a faulty manhole cover.

    We will inspect it within five working days to determine if the problem is with the cover itself or the road. If the cover is the problem, we will contact the utility company to repair the defect.
    If the road is damaged, repairs are usually carried out within 28 days following inspection.
    If we decide it’s an emergency we will make it safe within 4 hours following the inspection.
