Drivers don’t stop on a red light

Reported via mobile in the Pedestrian Crossing Issue category anonymously at 21:04, Wed 1 October 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1258808-V3S2J8.

It is a dangerous crossing as many drivers seem to not notice the traffic lights, only focusing on the one ahead, what is resulting in driving over the red light. It is a regular practice at least a few times a day.

Many times cars drove in front of our feet when going to or coming back from school. Other parents were also in the same situation.

What also happens often is that one or two lines are stopping while the other one speeds through the crossing endangering many adults and children.

Installing a camera could be a good solution bringing a good amount of money to the council’s budget while waking up drivers and sharpening their attention and focus on the road. Or at least adding an over the road sygnalizator.
