Severe road defect outside 44–49 Haydons Road causing ongoing property vibration and structural damage
Reported in the Potholes and Surface Problems category anonymously at 16:00, Thursday 9 October 2025
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1260149-K5H2N3.
A deep carriageway depression across the full road (up to 51 mm) lies directly in the wheel path of passing HGVs and buses, generating strong vibrations felt throughout the day and night in multiple homes (44–49).
A structural engineer has confirmed that repeated vibration from the defect is likely contributing to cracking and deterioration in nearby properties. Loose bricks and internal cracking have been recorded at 47 Haydons Road, directly aligned with the defect.
We have compiled a comprehensive report, seven neighbour testimonies, structural engineer’s testimony, and photographic evidence of the damage of which we are happy to provide. We would welcome an urgent site visit, both internally and externally, to assess the condition and arrange prompt resurfacing in line with TRL 416 guidance and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
