Incorrect Use of Bins

Reported in the Litter Bins on a Street category anonymously at 13:40, Wednesday 15 October 2025

Sent to Merton Council 4 hours, 41 minutes later. Council ref: SRQ-1260604-N0F2W7.

The flat's next door to me (122A) keep using our wheelie bins, causing them to overflow quickly and they are also putting the wrong rubbish in the bins, normal waste in the recycling bin for example.

Please can you contact them to avoid our recycling becoming contaminated?

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with litter bins.

We aim to empty all reported overflowing litter bins within 24 hours. Other issues may take a little longer.

    Did you know…?
Merton provides and maintains over 1,000 public street litter bins across the borough. We emptied litter bins over 360,000 times in the year 2024/5, and received only 188 reports of bins overflowing. That's less than one report for every 1000 empties.
