Blocked underwater drain outside dentist surgery/alleyway

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain or Gully category anonymously at 11:54, Wednesday 5 November 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1262714-D9L4S1.

The main underground rainwater drain is blocked. This was checked and verified by Thames Water who were in the area looking at a sewer issue; they removed the lid and tried to remove some of the mud & silt but were not able - or contracted - to, so they left it and said it is a Merton Council issue. It is affecting drainage in the area significantly

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a blocked drain or gully.

If we can clear the blockage using a tanker with a suction hose, we will do this within 5 working days of your report.
If more complex work is needed such as digging out compacted silt or repairing collapsed drains, it may take longer.
If we cannot get access because of parked cars, we will return within 10 working days.

    Did you know…?
We manage and maintain 17,900 road gullies across the borough. All high-risk gullies in areas known to have flooding issues are cleaned at least once a year and all other gullies are cleaned bi-annually.
