Bins overflowing - missed collection
Reported via mobile in the Litter Bins on a Street category anonymously at 16:58, Monday 10 November 2025
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1263277-S0M0R7.
I reported a bin overflowing from a missed collection yesterday morning. I was informed it had resolved but the rubbish is still there. The rubbish is not due to be cleared until next Tuesday and there is nowhere for 2 households to put their rubbish. I was unable to report it through the other channel as it stated that the bins were not collected as they were not in the correct place. The bins have been in the same place for 8 years I've lived here and I have never had an issue. Can you please help get this rubbish taken away. I fear that next week they will not be taken because they are overflowing and this is through no fault of ours. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for reporting a problem with litter bins.
We aim to empty all reported overflowing litter bins within 24 hours. Other issues may take a little longer.
Did you know…?
Merton provides and maintains over 1,000 public street litter bins across the borough. We emptied litter bins over 360,000 times in the year 2024/5, and received only 188 reports of bins overflowing. That's less than one report for every 1000 empties.
