Tree Removal no replacements for years

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1265374-F2Q3C3.

Dear Sir or Madam, Over the past few years the birches on Hazelwood Avenue have been removed. The Tree wells have then been covered with tarmac. Again today a tree was removed with no replacement. Please can you advise on tree planting for the street and when this and other trees will be replaced? Yours faithfully,

  • Thank you for your report. When a tree removed, the tree pit is still in our record and will be replaced. Even if a pit is tarmacked, it can be opened for planting. Please understand that tree planting must be carried out in stages due to limited resources. We regret that we are unable to provide a specific timeline at this time.
