Bins overflowing. Left out for weeks

Reported via mobile in the Litter Bins on a Street category anonymously at 09:39, Wednesday 3 December 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1265462-J9M9M9.

The litter bins are incorrectly filled. It's bin collection day and it couldn't be collected due to wrong use of bins. It's a HMO (yep, one of those) and the occupants continually misuse the bins.

It has been like this for nearly two weeks.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with litter bins.

We aim to empty all reported overflowing litter bins within 24 hours. Other issues may take a little longer.

    Did you know…?
Merton provides and maintains over 1,000 public street litter bins across the borough. We emptied litter bins over 360,000 times in the year 2024/5, and received only 188 reports of bins overflowing. That's less than one report for every 1000 empties.
