Black bins overflowing

Reported via mobile in the Litter Bins on a Street category by Karen Forrester at 18:45, Mon 15 December 2025

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1266671-J5N7P1.

All the black bins outside flats 2 on Hailsham Road pavement are completely overflowing and need emptying before their due date please. The residents are leaving flimsy bags on the pavement and foxes are ripping the bags open. I have had to clear these flimsy bags and use my own black bag.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with litter bins.

We aim to empty all reported overflowing litter bins within 24 hours. Other issues may take a little longer.

    Did you know…?
Merton provides and maintains over 1,000 public street litter bins across the borough. We emptied litter bins over 360,000 times in the year 2024/5, and received only 188 reports of bins overflowing. That's less than one report for every 1000 empties.
