Abandoned roadworks

Reported in the Other Roads or Carriageway issue category anonymously at 12:18, Tuesday 13 January 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1269131-Y6T8L4.

I turn into Leafield rd coming down from Mostyn rd 4 times a day, every weekday, and can never see anyone working on site. I follow this route at 8:10am and 8:45am and again at 3:10pm and 3:45pm, every weekdays since January 6th. I have only seen a working van once since then on the afternoon. It is very easy to see driving down from Mostyn rd if anything is moving on site, machinery or people but most of all I can never see a vehicle that indicates people are just present on site, only that one time one afternoon since January 6th. These roadworks have completely blocked the junction between Martin Way and Mostyn Road, bringing misery to anyone doing a school run across Martin Way or simply navigating traffic at rush hour. There isn't any sign on site indicating the period or even an end date for the works. Only "ROAD CLOSED" signs everywhere and SGN phone number signed on the site itself. The SGN website is the only place where I can find a record of the roadworks which doesn't appear on TFL website or London-works website. The SGN link to One.network map shows a record of the work and permit ID (XW305W122556336-01) however everyday that website shows the period of work to be from 18 Dec 2025 to that day's date (today) and "Work in progress", again no end date to be found anywhere. The pain would be more bearable if road users were informed of the end date of the works or even just by seeing someone working on site. Other school parents have remarked that they also never see anyone working on the site, therefore I wish to report this roadworks as abandoned or potentially being delayed beyond originally agreed timeline, whatever that timeline might have been back in December. Many thanks
