Recurring potholes & drainage failure on Canterbury road

Reported in the Potholes and Surface Problems category anonymously at 21:57, Thursday 22 January 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1270262-L7B2V6.

Multiple deep potholes with standing water adjacent to kerb and drain. Depth obscured by water creates a hazard to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Evidence of repeated failed patching suggests sub-base failure and drainage issues rather than surface wear. Location forces cyclists into carriageway to avoid defect. This requires urgent attention and temporary mitigation before scheduled repair on 16 Feb.
