Request for Inspection of Overhanging Tree

Reported via mobile in the Other Street Tree Problem category anonymously at 18:55, Saturday 21 February 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1273716-G6R7R1.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to ask whether the Council could please inspect a large tree located on the public road outside our property. While the tree appears to be on Council land, many substantial branches extend over our boundary and above the roof of our house.

During windy weather, heavy branches and debris fall into our garden, and some branches are currently touching the roof. Recently, during strong winds, a large branch fell and struck my child on the shoulder. Thankfully, the injury was not serious, but the incident has caused us concern.

Approximately a year ago, a fallen branch struck me on the head as I was getting into my car. At the time, I hoped this was an isolated incident. However, given the visibly deteriorated and decaying condition of some of the branches, I am concerned that similar incidents may occur again.

We would be very grateful if the tree could be assessed and, if appropriate, the overhanging branches trimmed to ensure the safety of our family and property.

Please let us know if you require any further information from our side.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind regards, Regards Maria Labe
