Grass verge covered asphalt

Reported via desktop in the Damage to Grass Verge category anonymously at 14:31, Monday

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1274709-X1D6J7.

Unbeknown to us, residents of Cardinal Avenue, the paving blocks and the lovely green grass verge were removed and replaced by asphalt. This not only changed the aesthetics of the road, approaching from Lower Morden Lane - seen on the attached AFTER photo, it also means a loss of lovely pocket of green space, grass and flowers which so many of us fight for these days. Please see the BEFORE photo taken a little further up the street where the grass is still left. Who agreed to this and how can this be reversed? We were expecting new road surface, as indicated by the notices last summer (10-11th August) but the notices disappeared as quietly as they appeared and no work on the road was done. Instead the potholes remain and now we lost the lovely green edges, giving our street a rare village feeling. Please revert this change. The asphalt also gets very hot and sticky, it is very warm already. There are so many pets walking around here, they will not be able to use the pavement in summer at all. The loss of aesthetics, loss of biodiversity, making the street hotter in summer and lowering it's ability to absorb water was a terrible decision which must be remedied.
