Dangerous and overgrown tree
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1274987-D7T6G6.
Over a period of time, the tree in the photo outside number 38/40 Mostyn Road has started leaning to one side as you can see in the photo. in addition, it is also in need of pollarding with the branches hanging low and encroaching substantially (it used to be done regularly but has been neglected for some time).

Thank you for your report. As our recent inspection to update tree condition, this tree is not in high risk category. We will keep monitoring condition of this tree in our subsequent inspections. For branches overhanging within property boundary, according to Merton Council’s policy document: Tree Strategy 2023–2029 and common law precedents: Residents have right to prune overhanging branches up to their property boundary, provided the tree is not legally protected (e.g. by a Tree Preservation Order or in a conservation area). Please note that access to council land is not permitted during such work for safety reasons. The pruned material remains council property, but you do not need to return it and please dispose of in legal and appropriate manner. Removing a large proportion of a tree’s crown can adversely affect its health and increase the risk of decline or death. Please only prune back as necessary.
