Bins on pavement and overflowing

Reported via Android in the Litter Bins on a Street category anonymously at 09:05, Thursday 5 March 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1275034-T1W3V6.

The bins outside number 54/56 seem to be permanently on the pavement and overflowing with rubbish. Rubbish never seems to be collected and smells. As well as the rubbish in the bins there is lots of other waste constantly left outside the house, which often gets in the way of the footpath

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with litter bins.

We aim to empty all reported overflowing litter bins within 24 hours. Other issues may take a little longer.

    Did you know…?
Merton provides and maintains over 1,000 public street litter bins across the borough. We emptied litter bins over 360,000 times in the year 2024/5, and received only 188 reports of bins overflowing. That's less than one report for every 1000 empties.

  • Rubbish is still sitting there in overflowing bins, spilling onto the pavement. Bins are left on the pavement.
