Grand Drive, Raynes Park - Pedestrian Crossing
Reported via desktop in the Pedestrian Crossing Issue category anonymously at 14:27, Thursday 26 March 2026
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1277474-L9F3S4.
The pedestrian crossing works have been left incomplete. There is no lighting of the crossing, which means that it is difficult for cars to see it, especially in the evenings or at night. The unlit crossing is more dangerous in its current state than not having a crossing at all, as pedestrians will use it with confidence as an official pedestrian crossing but cars will have difficulty in seeing it. I fear that there will be an accident.
This is especially concerning given the number of elderly, disabled persons and children who live in this area and will be using the crossing. It is also next to the doctor's surgery and there is a care home in Blenheim Road. Please arrange for the pedestrian crossing to be properly lit as a matter of urgency. If there is any delay in doing so, there should be protective and warning measures put in place now until the lighting can be completed.
