Urgent: Pedestrian Safety Concerns in the Area

Reported via desktop in the Pedestrian Crossing Issue category anonymously at 21:35, Saturday 11 April 2026

Sent to Merton Council 1 minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1279212-W9Q7K9.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to raise a concern regarding pedestrian safety and accessibility in this area.

Currently, pedestrian access is extremely difficult. When a train passes, pedestrians are required to use the footbridge, which takes a considerable amount of time to cross. In addition, if you are heading towards Kingston, reaching the bus stop is very challenging. Due to heavy traffic and the lack of a proper pedestrian crossing, pedestrians are forced to wait for vehicles to pass before crossing the road.

The same issue applies to the pedestrian crossing point mentioned above. I strongly believe that a short on-site visit (even 15 minutes) by the relevant authorities would clearly demonstrate the seriousness of the situation.

Crossing to the Kingston side can take approximately 10–15 minutes, and when combined with delays caused by traffic and bus waiting times, this results in a significant loss of time for daily users.

I kindly request that you review this matter and take the necessary actions to improve pedestrian safety and overall accessibility in the area.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Yours faithfully, Enes OZTURK
