Too close to private property and intertwined with household electricity wires

Reported via desktop in the Dangerous Street Tree category anonymously at 16:33, Tuesday 26 May 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9509364.

The tree is too tall and too big compared to all other trees on the road, especially compared to trees maintained by the Wandsworth Council on the other side of the road where trees are regularly maintained.

The tree is too big for the safety of nearby residents and passers-by because:

- The branches are approaching the 1st floor window (within 1 metres) - The tree branches on the top are intertwined with electricity supply wires which is very dangerous

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with a street tree.

We aim to inspect street tree problems within 10 working days of being reported, or 2 hours if the tree is dangerous. We aim to carry out any necessary work within 30 working days.

    Did you know…?
We care for more than 20,000 street trees in Merton, including pruning, pollarding, and planting hundreds each year to keep streets green, safe, and walkable.

  • Why no action or meaningful reply beyond a automatic reply was taken? This is way beyond the 10 working days promised timelines. The roots of this tree is also causing uneven surfaces on the sidewalk so really all sorts of issues with it already.

  • As an update, there is no update from the Council after an entire month post initial report. As I observe from FixMyStreet, another overgrown tree on the same stretch of the Revelstoke road does not have any non-automatic updates from the Council either.
