Rat Running

Reported in the Other Roads or Carriageway issue category anonymously at 09:10, Monday 1 June 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1284749-Y6W9V7.

The rat-running situation, owing to the partial closure of Pincott Rd. and Abbey Rd. appears to have a knock-on effect ; now the tiny Hayward Cose is being used as the preferred rat-run instead, right opposite a Primary School and in a part of the Estate frequented by schoolchildren and residents alike. It is untenable ; the sheer amount of vehicles using this one-lane road is phenomenal and needs tempering. It is a constant flow of vehicles desperately attempting to pass each other in both directions and without doubt causing an even greater nuisance.

Literally the problem has just been inadvertently ‘moved down the road’ ..

We now desperately need a form of ‘residents-only’ ANPR or the like to combat this ; a new impact-study needs to be undertaken to monitor, and more imminently, try to find a workable solution for this new scourge. Please, whoever happens to read this let the relevant authorities know of this awful consequence. It is a massive nuisance and something needs to be done as soon as possible.

Yours very sincerely

A concerned resident
