Abandoned vehicle parked in a limited parking location

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Vehicles category anonymously at 19:17, Wednesday 3 June 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1285143-F5P3D8.

The car has been parked and It has not moved for over 2 months. There is space for two cars in the area it has parked, but it is badly parked so larger vehicles are parked across my neighbours crossover. It appears taxed, but this end of Westcroft Gardens has very limited parking spaces due to additional cars for the flats, the electric parking bay taking up a space and the Sainsburys, and as we have not been allowed a crossover at our property we have to have availability to park on the the street.

This car is taking up a space without the owner living in the area. It is outside number 4 Westcroft Gardens, but no one lives in this property (which in itself is turning into a blight - the garden is overgrown, the rear conservatory completely destroyed and the rubbish in the front of the house means there are foxes and rats).

Please can you deal with the car so that we can park near our house and not down the street (which presumably causes an issue for another owner).

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting an abandoned vehicle.

We will investigate to decide if the vehicle has been abandoned.

If it is abandoned, we will give notice to the owner before we remove it. The length of notice depends on the circumstances, and is normally:

    • 7 days for vehicles on the public highway that are not dangerous - this applies to most abandoned vehicles

    • 24 hours if we decide the vehicle is dangerous

    • 15 days if the vehicle is on private land unless the landowner or occupier objects

    Did you know…?
We investigate on average over 1500 reports of abandoned vehicles per year in Merton.
