Large dead tree in Barham Road, SW20, with significant bark loss and apparent trunk decay.

Reported via mobile in the Damaged Street Tree category anonymously at 15:08, Friday 5 June 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9568192.

The tree appears to be dead, with no visible foliage and numerous dead branches. A substantial section of bark has detached from the lower trunk, exposing the underlying wood, and large pieces of bark have recently fallen onto the ground.

The tree is located adjacent to a road leading to Wimbledon Rugby Club and is used by pedestrians, drivers, dog walkers and visitors to Wimbledon Common. I am concerned that the tree may be structurally unsafe and could pose a hazard.

I would be grateful if the council could inspect the tree and assess whether any remedial work is required.
