Hillcross Ave VW golf broken outside my rear gate

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Vehicles category anonymously at 12:28, Sunday 7 June 2026

Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1285444-J6S1C1.

Neighbours car has been blocking my rear drive for months. Repeatedly asked him to deal with it verbally & written requests. It's blocking our rear access. No MOT & completely un drivable. Also noticed a smell of petrol/diesel coming from it.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting an abandoned vehicle.

We will investigate to decide if the vehicle has been abandoned.

If it is abandoned, we will give notice to the owner before we remove it. The length of notice depends on the circumstances, and is normally:

    • 7 days for vehicles on the public highway that are not dangerous - this applies to most abandoned vehicles

    • 24 hours if we decide the vehicle is dangerous

    • 15 days if the vehicle is on private land unless the landowner or occupier objects

    Did you know…?
We investigate on average over 1500 reports of abandoned vehicles per year in Merton.

  • A red nuisance vehicle notice has been put on my neighbours car last Monday. He refuses to speak to us about the car. Yesterday the car alarm started to go off for half an hour & again today the same. He refuses to speak about it, just saying it's not coming from his car.

  • This cars alarm is going off intermittently. Have reported it to owner. He says its not his problem. Last night went off at 1.45am & again at 3am
