Subsided Fire Hydrant
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. Council ref: SRQ-1286812-N2R0D3.
My previous report on this issue was raised on 13 May 2026, on the request of my 6 year old son, concerned missing asphalt around four utility manhole covers and one subsided fire hydrant outside Wimbledon Common Preparatory School (WCPS), causing potential trip hazards.
The missing asphalt problem was fixed today (19 June 2026). Thank you.
However, as the previous report was marked as “fixed” by the Council, the report was “closed, hence this new Fix My Street report to query the pending repair in the same location.
Please Note: The subsided fire hydrant repair in the exact same location is still pending repair. It is already marked with white markings by the Council but was not repaired today.
It is located on the pavement next to the 200 bus stop, outside Wimbledon Common Preparatory School (WCPS).

Thank you for reporting a problem with a road or pavement.
If there is a fault with the road or pavement, a highway officer will visit to inspect the site within five working days. If we decide it’s an emergency we will make it safe within 4 hours following the inspection. If it is not dangerous, we will resolve it within 28 days following the inspection.

As of 10. July 2026, the subsided fire hydrant cover which tilts at >30 degrees is still pending repair.
It poses a real risk of injury due to the significant tilt of the cover compared to the surrounding pavement.
The cover was already marked with white markings by the Council in May 2026 but was not repaired on 19 June 2026 when other covers were fixed in the exact same location, as requested in my initial report on this issue in May 2026.
It is located on the pavement right beside the 200 bus stop, outside Wimbledon Common Preparatory School (WCPS) on the Ridgway in Wimbledon Village.
