Branches growing onto the house
Sent to Merton Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9672994.
The tree outside 24 Ethelbert road is growing unto the house and it's roof. This can cause damage to the roof and windows. It is also blocking us from doing maintenance on the roof. The trees were not pollarded last year and i assume this is why the branches have grown to long. Please arrange for the branches to be cut urgently.

Please accept our apologies again for postponing pollarding works originally scheduled early this year. Please understand that due to other utility's essential work and urgent tree works e.g. after storm and high risk trees, also taken priority. We cannot complete our works as schedule. We will pollard your street as soon as we can in coming pollarding season. We anticipate the work will take place winter 2026, subject to overall work progress and any urgent priorities such as storm-related response activities. Programmed pollards, when available, will be shown on the councils Planned Tree Works page https://www.merton.gov.uk/ planning-and-buildings/ trees/ works According to Merton Council’s policy document: Tree Strategy 2023–2029 and common law precedents: Residents have right to prune overhanging branches up to their property boundary, provided the tree is not legally protected (e.g. by a Tree Preservation Order or in a conservation area). Please note that access to council land is not permitted during such work for safety reasons. The pruned material remains council property, but you do not need to return it and please dispose of in legal and appropriate manner. Removing a large proportion of a tree’s crown can adversely affect its health and increase the risk of decline or death. Please only prune back as necessary.
