Overhanging Public Trees

Reported via desktop in the Other Street Tree Problem category anonymously at 16:22, Monday 3 August 2026

Sent to Merton Council 1 day, 16 hours, 13 minutes later. Council ref: SRQ-1291870-G4D8C7.

Some branches of the tree outside our property now overhang into our front Garden. More importantly, These low branches come into contact with passing pedestrians. One blind man, who often passes the house, cannot see to avoid these branches and it causes him some distress. I have reported these problems in the passed but this has resulted in no action,

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting overhanging vegetation.

If plants or trees on private land are blocking the street, we’ll ask the owner to cut them back. If they don’t do this within 28 days, we’ll write to them again giving them 14 days further notice and if action is still not taken we will arrange for the work to be done at the owner's expense.

    Did you know…?
In 2024 we issued 469 notices to owners of property with vegetation overhanging the public highway.

  • We are unable to locate this. The map pin is in Morden Park, not near any front garden. The pictures show the street tree, but no mention of the street name. Please provide the address.

    State changed to: In progress
